Another Finish!

Hooray for another finished quilt! This one is my “Blogger’s Block of the Month” quilt, begun in the fall of 2011. I wasn’t able to stay current with all the months, but of the three (!) BOMs I started at the end of 2011/beginning of 2012, this is the only one I mostly kept up with. I’d like to say that I’ve learned from this experience: either keep it to one BOM at a time or don’t sign up for things with a specific schedule. The latter seems unreasonable and the former seems unlikely. Oh well. The fabrics in the …

Bloggers’ BOM Quilt Almost Done!

I’ve got my first completed quilt top of 2013! Really, it’s amazing what one can do with several hours of quilty time each week. I’ve recently started working on Fridays at Stash Quilt Shop, and when I’m not cutting fabric for folks, I’ve got access to a sewing machine. There are several BOMs from last year that never got finished, so I’m using my Stash-time to finish them up. First up, since it was the farthest along: the Bloggers’ BOM from Jackie at Canton Village Quiltworks. The blocks are on point, with shashing and stepping stones. I think the border …

Bloggers’ BOM Blocks Done!

It’s not the 25th yet and all my Bloggers’ BOM blocks are done! Here’s Block 12… And here’s Block 13. Time to figure out how to arrange them! (Sorry about the questionable photo. It’s October in Seattle… and I’m not waiting until the next sunny day to take pictures!) I’m liking this layout at the moment. I definitely want to put something between the blocks but haven’t yet decided between sashing (and if so, how wide should the sashing be?) or putting squares between all these blocks (although that would probably make the final quilt too white?). I’ve got some …

Bloggers’ BOM Blocks

I abandoned most of my Block of the Month projects back in June. Solstice, a birthday, the end of school, the start of summer and swimming lessons. Now that summer’s done, Caitlyn’s back in school, and harvest season is over, it’s time to get caught up. Christmas sewing must start soon! First up, the Bloggers’ BOM. June’s block was number 10: And July’s block: Two more blocks to go and I’m all caught up on this one. I wonder if Jackie is going to do a putting-it-all-together post or collective show-and-tell post on the 25th (which is when the next …

Blocks!

I’ve ignored my various quilting projects for the last month or so, while I was working on projects for Caitlyn and the siggy blocks. I’m now playing catch-up, chasing down the cool kids, waving my rulers, bits of fabric fluttering behind me: “Wait for me!” First up, the Bloggers’ Block of the Month blocks: Block 7 Block 8 Block 9 Block 9 is my favorite of this bunch. Note to self, though: don’t try to assemble this one at the very end or the very start of the day. I unpicked seams so many times on this one and still …

The Blocks of March

It’s Block of the Month round-up time! First up, the block for the Blogger’s BOM. It’s really February’s block, but since new blocks are announced late in the month, I just make them the following month. This block looks like February, what with the pink/red/purple thing. I guess I wasn’t thinking things through all the way when I picked out the solids for this block. Mostly I wanted to be sure that I wasn’t leaning too hard on the yellow, orange, and green I’d used in the last two blocks. I started with blue instead of the pink, but it …
